Recent Work

Here are the finished pieces for the Dining In show next month at 18 Hands gallery.

I'm getting a few things ready for a show coming up this summer.  I'm liking the "nubby" texture that I used on the teapot I entered in the Teapot Tournament.  I'm trying it on a few plates and bowls for a place setting.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:  July 3, 2014
18 Hands Gallery seeks entries for “Dining In VII: An Artful Experience,” a juried exhibition that will run the month of August 2014 (opening to be held in conjunction with the Houston Heights White Linen Night celebration.)
The exhibition will feature handmade items for the well-appointed
dining table. This includes plates, chargers, bowls, candleholders,
tureens, ladles, centerpieces, spoons, forks, knives, drinking vessels, etc.
Complete place settings are also welcomed and count as a single entry. Artist may submit work in any or all of the categories below:
  • 1) Place settings: dinner plate, salad or dessert plate, soup or salad bowl. A place setting counts as a single entry.
  • 2) Decorative & Side Pieces: Additional pieces for the table
(casserole dishes, platters, candleholders, pitchers, etc.)
  • 3) Serving Pieces & Partyware: Festive and whimsical pieces for entertaining (serving plates & platters, candleholders, sushi plates, olive trays, hors d'oeuvres plates, etc.)

I submitted two new pieces to the Annual International Texas Teapot Tournament.  Both were accepted into the juried show and were displayed at 18 Hands Gallery.

This little bowl was an experiment using a sprig mold.  I was inspired by El Dia de los Muertos, since it was that time of year.
